Cowabunga Bay brings that classic water park energy to the Las Vegas suburbs, and it's exactly what Henderson needed. This place opened in 2014 and has that modern, clean feel without being overly fancy. The layout works well - you can see most of the park from the entrance, which makes it easy to navigate with kids who inevitably want to run in five different directions.

The slide collection hits all the right notes. You've got your big tube slides that the whole family can ride together, plus some serious speed slides for anyone who likes that stomach-drop feeling. The racing slides are popular with teenagers - there's nothing quite like the competition factor to get kids motivated. The kids' area is thoughtfully designed with smaller versions of the big-kid slides, so your 5-year-old isn't stuck with just a basic splash pad.

What I really appreciate here is the wave pool. It's big enough that you don't feel crowded, and the waves have a good rhythm - not too aggressive for little ones, but enough action to be fun. The lazy river actually moves at a decent pace, unlike some parks where you feel like you're floating in a kiddie pool.

This park works best for families with kids ages 4 and up. Teenagers find enough thrills to stay entertained, but it's not so intense that parents with younger kids feel left out. The vibe is relaxed Vegas suburban - think more family barbecue than nightclub.

Arrive when they open if you're visiting during summer. Nevada heat is no joke, and you'll want those first few hours before it gets brutal. Rent a cabana if your budget allows it - the shade becomes precious by noon. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and reapply constantly. The concrete gets scorching hot, so water shoes are worth packing. Food prices are typical water park expensive, but the quality is decent enough.
